Who we are

Stardust (“we,” “us”) is case-management and memorial software for funeral homes and cremation providers, operated by Stardust Care LLC, Redding, California. This policy describes how we collect, use, and protect information across our website and applications, including app.stardust.care.

Information we collect

  • Account information: name, email, phone, and login credentials for funeral home staff and family members, managed through our authentication provider.
  • Case and family information: details funeral homes enter to manage services, and information families provide directly, such as contact details, documents, memories, photos, and memorial content.
  • Payment information: payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store full card numbers on our servers.
  • Communications and consent records: messages sent through the platform, and per-channel communication consent (including SMS consent), recorded with timestamps in an audit log.
  • Technical information: device, browser, and usage data collected to operate and secure the service.

How we use information

We use information to provide the service: managing cases, processing payments, hosting memorials, sending communications that recipients have consented to receive, providing support, and improving and securing the platform. Some features use AI processing to assist with content the funeral home or family has provided.

Text messaging

SMS messages are sent only to recipients who have given explicit consent through a funeral home using our platform. Consent is optional, recorded with a timestamp, and revocable at any time by replying STOP or contacting the funeral home. We honor quiet hours and include opt-out language in messages. We do not share, sell, or provide your mobile phone number, mobile opt-in data, or messaging consent information to third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Message frequency varies based on case activity and the communications you have opted into. Message and data rates may apply. Text HELP for help or STOP to opt out at any time.

How we share information

We share information only with service providers who help us operate the platform (such as payment processing, cloud hosting and storage, authentication, email and SMS delivery, and AI processing), each bound to use it only to provide their service; with the funeral home managing your case, and with family members you collaborate with, as part of how the service works; and when required by law. We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing.

Data retention and security

We retain information for as long as needed to provide the service and meet legal obligations. Data is encrypted in transit, access is restricted, and we maintain backups to protect against loss. Memorial content is retained according to the memorial product’s terms.

Your choices

You may access, update, or request deletion of your personal information by contacting us or the funeral home managing your case. You may withdraw communication consent at any time. Where local law grants additional rights, we honor them.

Children

Our services are directed to adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Changes

We may update this policy as the service evolves; the effective date above will change when we do. Material changes will be noted on this page.
